Most new inventions come with benefits, but also with downsides. I feel the same about AI. While it certainly comes with convenience, I feel it also takes away authenticity. Read why I decided to no longer use AI to create content.
Like most people who start something new, I, too, had a lot to learn (and still am!) when I began blogging.
What seemed like something easy and fun (write about something you love, right?!). Proved to be a little more than just that.
Setting up a blogging strategy
Keyword research, social media, newsletters, rankings, SEO… And with time, that list grew longer and longer.
Until it became too long.
I started looking for ways to save time and work more efficiently, so I could post more and reach more people.
But honestly, increasing quantity did not increase my sense of fulfillment.
Why I no longer use ChatGPT for my blog
So I turned to AI programs like ChatGPT to provide me with ideas, descriptions, layouts, and relevant keywords. It saved me lots of time and mental effort, but it also led me away from creating original, honest, and most of all, real content.
Perhaps even more important, as a Christian, I tuned out the opportunity for God to lead me through His Holy Spirit. After all, typing in a simple question and receiving the answer instantly is much quicker than patiently waiting on the Lord.
I decided to take a break from blogging altogether. I just left it for a while to ponder what I wanted to do and what my goal is for the Haven of Rest.
A new pursuit
I found that, rather than pursuing as many views as possible and creating a solid, passive income, I wanted to encourage women, come alongside them in those busy seasons of life, and share beauty by stocking my online shop with useful, beautiful art and resources for homemakers, mothers, and homeschoolers. All human-made, not AI-generated.

My hopes for the Haven of Rest
I hope this place will be a lovely, quiet spot where you’ll want to return for ideas & encouragement. A place you can trust, knowing that what I write about are lessons learned through real-life experiences. Free from ads and AI-generated content.
End note: Of course, and perhaps sadly, more and more companies implement some form of AI. That includes companies that I need to keep this blog in the air. So, I can never guarantee that everything on this blog is AI-free. But I will not use AI to generate content for a blog post & items in my shop.
